Over 25% of the Bible is descriptive of the end times. Jesus gave His disciples the signs, simultaneously telling them to keep watch. In this section, we’ll look at headlines that are Biblical signs of the end times, not to predict the day or the hour, but to be watchful as Jesus commanded.

Jesus told His disciples that one of the earliest signs of the end of the age would be wars and rumors of wars.

“And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. This must take place, but the end is not yet.  For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” Mark 13:7-8 ESV

So it is expected that as we approach the day of Christ, that we will see more and more headlines about war. Here are just a few headlines related to war that I saw during this past week:

As you can see there are rumors of wars involving China, the US, Taiwan, Ukraine, Russia, Iran and Israel. I find it odd that Jesus gave a command specific to this sign of the end times. When you see this prophecy fulfilled, do not be alarmed. In Luke’s record of this conversation, Jesus said to not be terrified.

But the prospect of war in America, with powerful Russia, Communist China, or the out-of-control Iranian regime IS terrifying. How then can we stay calm?

Jesus says that these things MUST take place, but soon after the end will come. 2 Peter 3:12 says, “wait and earnestly long for (expect and hasten) the coming of the day of God.” (AMP) This is nearly the opposite of being alarmed or terrified. The best way to obey these commands to stay calm and actually look forward to what lies ahead is to know what God has told us about what is to come.

If you want to learn more about how to eagerly keep watch, you can attend one of the End Times Watch 6-week studies being offered this year. One is scheduled for Tuesday evenings beginning on April 11th at Bill and Deby Shandersky’s. Another class is being offered at Deb Keller’s house beginning the same week, but a day/time hasn’t yet been set. Please reach out to Deb Keller to suggest your preference of day/time. A third small group location has been offered for this summer.
