What We Believe

What we believe For the word of God is living and active.

Hebrews 4:12a

God
We believe there is one God who is the Creator and Sustainer of all things.
We believe He is eternal and unchanging — perfect in holiness, wisdom and love.
We believe He exists forever as three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
See Acts 17:24-30, Hebrews 11:3, James 1:17.

Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ God’s one and only Son.
We believe He was born of a virgin, both fully human and fully divine.
We believe He lived a sinless life suffering and dying on a Roman cross.
He was the perfect sacrifice for our sin-filled lives.
We believe He rose bodily from the dead on the third day and will return to earth one day to judge both the living and the dead.
See 1 John 4:9, Luke 1:26-38, Luke 23:1-46, 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, Acts 10:39-42.

The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is active in the world and in the lives of Christians today.
We believe He convicts people of this world of sin and their need for forgiveness in Christ.
We believe He comes to live in those who accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
We believe He guides, instructs, and empowers the Christ-follower in spiritual growth, daily living, and service to Jesus Christ.
See John 16:5-15, Acts 2:38, Romans 8:26-27.

The Bible
We believe the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God without error in the original texts.
We believe the scriptures are the final authority for all matters of Christian faith and practice.
See 1 Corinthians 2:12-13, 2 Timothy 3:14-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21.

Mankind
We believe all people were created uniquely by God in His image in order to have a relationship with Him.
We believe that all men and women have separated themselves from their relationships with God by sinning against Him.
We believe that we are able to renew this broken relationship with God only through accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
See Genesis 1:27, Acts 4:12, & Romans 3:23; 6:23.

Salvation
We believe that the forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life can belong to all who accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
We believe that this is a free gift of grace given when one confesses personal faith in Jesus Christ, repents of sinful ways,  and is baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
See John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9, Acts 2:38, Galatians 3:26-28, Romans 6:1-7, Colossians 2:6.

The Church
We believe there is only one church founded on the day of Pentecost consisting of all people who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
We seek to follow the pattern of the New Testament church by encouraging believers to gather together for worship, the teaching of the Word of God, fellowship, and prayer.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church and that the local church should govern its own fellowship by a plurality of leaders in obedient submission to the will of God, the Word of God, and the Spirit of God.
We believe that the church is commissioned by Jesus Christ to GO into the world, MAKE DISCIPLES of all people, BAPTIZING them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and TEACHING them to obey all that He commanded.
We believe that God gave gifts of leadership within the church for the training and equipping of the people to do the work of ministry.
We believe that every believer is spiritually gifted to contribute to the ministry of the church by serving others and building up the body of Christ.
See Acts 2:14-47, 1 Peter 5:1-4, Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 4:11-12, 1 Corinthians 12:12-31.
