If you are like me, you cringe each time a state passes a law prohibiting parent from being informed about their daughter’s abortion. You are probably disgusted by the liberal states that have authorized schools and pediatricians to hide a child’s gender transformation from the parents. But I thought that here in the Midwest, we would not have such battles.
For this reason, I was shocked to hear about a proposed amendment to Ohio’s constitution. The amendment states that “every individual has a right to make and carry out one’s own reproductive decisions, including but not limited to decisions on contraception, fertility treatment, continuing one’s own pregnancy, miscarriage care and abortion.” The proponents are Planned Parenthood, the ACLU and Ohioans for Reproductive Freedom.
Protect Women Ohio, Judicial Crisis Network, and informed Ohio parents explain, “The proposed amendment would outlaw virtually any restrictions on abortion and all other procedures, including sex-change surgeries, that touch on reproduction, for both adults and minors. It would cancel out not only parental-consent laws but also mere parental notification for minors’ abortions or sex-change surgeries; strike down health protections for people of all ages who undergo these procedures, including requirements that a qualified physician perform them; and erase any meaningful limits on late-term abortions.”
Our struggle is not against flesh and blood. It is against the principalities and powers in the heavenly realms. We are in a time of spiritual warfare in which we see the devil and his demons unleashing a final desperate attempt to destroy God’s intent for life and sexuality.
We should prepare for the onslaught by agreeing wholeheartedly with God’s purpose for male and female, by praying fervently for our children, grandchildren, and all those who are trying to protect them. Secondly, we must stand against this amendment!
