Children’s Director Position

Christ’s Fellowship at Little Miami

Job Description:

The primary responsibility of the Children’s Director is to teach and introduce children to Jesus.  In addition, the Children’s director should be able to cast vision, plan, protect, and lead children in the development of their spiritual growth.  The Children’s Director also needs to ensure that each encounter with the children and their parents are inviting to both members and guests. 

Core Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred (at least 3-5 years of experience) 
  • Must be a baptized believer with a maturing relationship with Christ who will willingly join Christ’s Fellowship
  • Demonstrates a call from God with a passion for children and their growth
  • Able to cast a compelling, challenging, and engaging vision for children to encourage them to grow in their trust in Jesus Christ
  • Passion for forming disciples of Jesus Christ
  • Servant’s heart
  • Familiarity with spiritual and cognitive development of children
  • Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Computer skills
  • Effective time-management skills
  • Able to work well with a team
  • Long-range planning
  • Able to pass initial and periodic thorough background examinations

Reports to:  Shepherds / Elders

Hours:  Part-time, salaried position

Compensation:  Negotiable, with experience


Sunday Morning (Nursery through 6th grade)

  • Develop or select curriculum for Children’s Sunday School
  • Develop or select curriculum for Children’s Church
  • Recruit and assist volunteers to aid in this ministry area
  • Coordinate necessary volunteers for both Sunday School and Children’s Church
  • Coordination of teacher and volunteer schedules
  • Nursery coordinator for nursery and childcare needs 
  • Fill-in teaching for teachers and volunteers that are sick and unplanned absences, or have emergencies

Wednesday Evenings (Kindergarten through 6th grade) 

  • Develop or select curriculum or Bible studies for this ministry area
  • Recruit and assist volunteers to aid in this ministry area
  • Oversee different service projects and/or activities throughout the year

Other responsibilities

  • Coordinate special activities such as, but not limited to:
  • Trunk-n-Treat/Fall Harvest
  • Easter Eggstravaganza
  • Spring retreat for youth ages 4th grade through 6th grade. (Such as Superstart (CIY))
  • Coordinate drivers / vehicles for special events 
  • Vacation Bible School
  • Community outreach via service projects
  • Church volunteer
  • Participate in staff / leadership meetings
    • Regularly reports and /or meets with Church Elders / Leadership, raise concerns, and provide input
  • Answer emails, phone calls, and texts in a timely fashion
  • Maintain weekly attendance records and coordinate with the Church Secretary to report final numbers per week
  • Input to weekly newsletter
  • Remain aware of ministry safety training for volunteers
    • Coordinate with security team and church leadership for application and screening (background checks) of teachers and volunteers
  • Coordinate with security team and church leadership for child abuse/sexual abuse training of

teachers and volunteers

  • Coordinate with security team on security procedures, training, and emergency preparedness
  • Develops relationships with children and their families as well as teacher’s and volunteer’s


  • Teacher/volunteer training and workshops
  • Manage budget for the ministry
